SUHU TUBUH SAPI NEONATUS Friesian Holstein YANG DIBERI KOLOSTRUM DAN DITANTANG DENGAN Escherichia coli

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati suhu tubuh sapi neonatus Friesian Holstein yang diberi kolostrum dari induk yang divaksin dengan E. coli polivalen dan ditantang dengan E. coli K-99. Sebanyak enam ekor sapi FH neonatus digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Segera setelah hewan lahir dilakukan pemeriksaan klinis menyeluruh. Lima ekor sapi neonatus diberi kolostrum (Asp1-Asp5) dan satu ekor lainnya (Asp) diberi susu sapi (sebagai kontrol). Kolostrum dan susu sapi diberikan sesegera mungkin setelah anak sapi lahir (sekitar 1-2 jam setelah lahir). Kolostrum/susu diberikan sebanyak 10%/Kg BB. Kolostrum/susu diberikan 2 kali sehari selama tiga hari. Setelah itu, semua anak sapi diberi susu sapi sebanyak 2 kali sehari. Uji tantang dilakukan pada semua anak sapi saat berumur 12 jam. Uji tantang dilakukan dengan menggunakan bakteri hidup E. coli K-99 sebanyak 5×1010 Colony Forming Unit (CFU), peroral dengan menggunakan syringe. Hasil pengamatan menunjukan peningkatan suhu tubuh yang lebih rendah pada pedet yang diberi kolostrum dibandingkan dengan pedet yang diberi susu sapi.

ABSTRACT

The aimed of this research is to know body temperature of calves after challenges whith Escherichia Coli K-99 which given colostrum from vaccinated mother with polyvalent E. coli. In this research were used six neonates calves of Friesian Holstein. Immediately after they born, were done physical examination. Five calves were given colostrums (Asp1-Asp5) and another one(Asp) were given milk. Colostrum and milk were given as soon as possible after birth (1-2 hours of birth), 10%/kg body weight, 2 times/days for 3 days. After that, all neonates calves, were given milk 2 times/day. Challenge test was performed to all of the calves at 12 hours after birth, using live bacteria E. coli K-99, 5×1010 Colony Forming Unit (CFU) peroral. The result of this research demonstrated that calves which were given colostrums didn’t showed significant body temperature increased than calves were given milk.
